I’ve been working on the little boy’s quilt and once I started assembling the blocks I found that there was a technique that I had very little experience with. I start with my pieced square and place rectangle flying geese with a square units on each side. The first unit goes on partially leaving a section that is not sewn. As I rotate my block sewing on the top, left side and bottom, all goes well, but then I’m back to where I started with a partial seam that needs to be completed.
For whatever reason, I am having such a time with this. I know that it all involves with my first unit I sew on, where I stop my needle so I don’t end up ripping at the end. However, I’m finding that I have a loose seem at the end where I’m connecting the last two seams together. I figure I’ll get the hang of it by the time I am finished with the quilt, however, I’m certain I’ll have to go back and tighten up a few seams at the end. I had hoped to finish these blocks soon, but with this setback it will take longer than I thought.
